Presentation to HSIAC on April 21, 2010

On April 21, 2010, St. Mary's welcomed participants in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of University Partnerships (OUP) national conference.

At the site visit to St. Mary's, members of the Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force presented how its progress speaks directly to the conference theme, "Communities and Universities: Making a Difference in Challenging Times."

Call for Resources Development Committee

In early January 2010, the Task Force discussed starting a Resources Development Committee and asked interested individuals to contact Leona Pallansch. This committee would focus on securing funds for the Task Force's endeavors, fundraising and working on the viability of projects.

Best Practices - University and Community Revitalization

As the Task Force moves forward with new and exciting revitalization initiatives, it is valuable to look to other universities that have undertaken projects of a similar nature. Task Force members and the community alike are invited to view a research project, Overview of Best Practices University and Community Revitalization, presented by Leona Pallansch, Ph.D., and Sandra Nannini, that provides perspective on how a university can best achieve sustainable revitalization. The summarized presentation is also available.

Strategic Plan Update

In 2009, the Task Force was called upon to revisit the Project's mission and vision, and to develop a strategic plan that included short, medium, and long term goals and objectives. At the Jan. 26 Task Force meeting, Leona Pallansch and Sandra Nannini presnted a progress report on the strategic plan.
